Eskom disappointed by Hitachi's boiler delay

Eskom CEO Brian Dames has expressed his 'disappointment' with industrial group Hitachi over the delay in the building of the boilers for the important Meduphi power station.

Petrochemicals group Sasol announces plans to build a R1.8bn gas-engine power plant next to its electricity generation facility in Sasolburg.

Companies within the portfolio of the Department of Public Enterprises will invest R105bn in infrastructure this financial year, according to Public Enterprise Minister Malusi Gigaba.

As the “coal capital” of South Africa, the city of Emalahleni in Mpumalanga is the new "power house" of the region.

Eskom said it is unlikely that the closure of the Medupi and Kusile construction sites for two weeks will have any impact on the delivery of the power stations on time.
